When Banyan Tree Spa opened in Phuket in 1995, it pioneered the tropical garden spa concept with its Eastern therapies and holistic focus on spiritual, mental and physical harmony. Offering guests a sanctuary for the senses, Banyan Tree Spa provides a place for physical, mental and spiritual renewal achieved by a non-clinical and holistic approach. Treatments are based on traditional Eastern healing therapies and emphasise a ‘high-touch, low-tech’ approach which celebrates the human touch and the use of natural herbs and spices.

Each spa is designed to fit into its unique surroundings, using indigenous materials as far as possible to showcase the culture and heritage of the destination and reflect the unique architectural style, landscape and vegetation.

Banyan Tree Spa Academy

With a view to developing its own signature techniques, treatment recipes as well as training philosophy, the Banyan Tree Spa Academy was launched in May 2001 in Phuket Thailand, to formalise this unique school of thought and maintain its leadership position in the spa industry.

Two other facilities have since been established, the Banyan Tree Thai Massage School in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2006, and the Banyan Tree Spa Academy Lijiang, China, in 2008.
